Pain can have many different causes. In everyday life, we most commonly experience it due to:
- inflammatory processes or tissue irritation;
- muscle overuse or strains after physical activity;
- injuries;
- physiological processes, such as painful menstruation.

From a biological perspective, the pain pathway begins when tissues are irritated or damaged. During this process, special chemical substances called mediators are released, activating pain receptors. The signal is then immediately transmitted through nerve fibers to the brain, where it is processed and perceived.
If these signals become intense or persist for a long time, they begin to dominate a person’s attention. This directly affects both mood and energy levels, making even simple everyday tasks feel like difficult challenges.

Sudden headaches, muscle pain, toothache, or cramping pain caused by menstruation can significantly affect a person’s cognitive abilities and physical activity. On a biological level, strong pain impulses dominate the nervous system, making it harder to concentrate and limiting range of movement, which in turn interferes with normal daily activities.

How does Xeldaxin work?

Xeldaxin belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Its active ingredient, Dexketoprofen, is an analgesic that specifically targets the biological mechanisms of pain and inflammation.

The medicine works by inhibiting the activity of a specific enzyme called cyclooxygenase (COX). These enzymes promote the production of prostaglandins in the body. Prostaglandins are biologically active substances that:
- sensitize pain receptors;
- promote inflammation and tissue swelling;
- participate in thermoregulation.

By blocking the synthesis of these substances, Xeldaxin not only reduces the intensity of pain signals, but also acts directly at the site of inflammation.
Thanks to the physicochemical properties of Dexketoprofen, the medicine is rapidly absorbed in the digestive system. The therapeutic effect is usually achieved within 30 minutes after taking it, making it a suitable choice for relieving episodes of acute pain.

About Xeldaxin

Xeldaxin is a painkiller from a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Xeldaxin is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain, such as musculoskeletal pain, dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), dental pain, in adults.

What Xeldaxin contains

The active substance is dexketoprofen trometamol (36.90 mg), equivalent to 25 mg dexketoprofen.

The other ingredients are cornstarch, microcrystalline cellulose (E460), sodium starch glycolate (type A), glycerol distearate, hypromellose/HPMC 2910 (E464), titanium dioxide (E171) and macrogol 400.

Usage

Always take this medicine exactly as described in leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.

The tablet can be divided into equal doses. For adults aged 18 years and over The recommended dose is usually half a tablet (12.5 mg) every 4 to 6 hours or 1 tablet (25 mg) every 8 hours, up to a maximum of 3 tablets (75 mg) per day.

In elderly patients and patients with mild kidney or mild to moderate liver problems, treatment should be started with a total daily dose of no more than 2 tablets (50 mg). In elderly patients, this initial dose may later be increased to the general recommended daily dose of 3 tablets (75 mg) if Xeldaxin has been well tolerated.

This medicine should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Duration of treatment: If you do not feel better after 3-4 days or if you feel worse, you should consult a doctor. This medicine is not intended for long-term use and treatment should be limited to the symptomatic period.

How to use: Swallow the tablet with a sufficient amount of liquid (e.g. one glass of water). Take the tablets with food, as this will help reduce the risk of stomach or intestinal side effects. If the pain is intense and you need faster pain relief, take the tablets on an empty stomach (at least 30 minutes before a meal), as they will be more easily absorbed.
